DJ Screw

Collection: DJ Screw

DJ Screw (real name Robert Earl Davis Jr., July 20, 1971 – November 16, 2000) was a pioneering American DJ and producer from Houston, Texas, best known for creating the “chopped and screwed” DJ technique. This slowed-down, psychedelic style of remixing hip-hop music became a defining sound of Southern rap. As the founder of the Screwed Up Click (S.U.C.), DJ Screw played a vital role in launching the careers of many Houston rappers. His legendary mixtapes, often distributed hand-to-hand, gained a cult following and cemented his status as a cultural icon in Texas and beyond. DJ Screw's influence remains deeply rooted in hip-hop today.
